The North Shore
The Lake Superior shore along scenic highway 61 has much to offer all the way up to the Canadian border. Scenic parks and rocky and rugged landscapes are all apart of this stretch of Minnesota.
City of Two Harbors
The city of Two Harbors is a quaint city about 22 miles from Pumphouse with shops, restaurants and many landmarks. Agate Bay and Burlington Bay Beach are destinations to dip your toes in the crystal clear water. Two Harbors Lighthouse Museum is popular to visit as well.
Gooseberry Falls
Gooseberry Falls is one of the busiest state parks in Minnesota known for its many waterfalls. Most visitors just come to see the upper, middle and lower falls but there are many hiking trails, fishing spots and historic places throughout the park.
Split Rock Lighthouse
This state park is another awe-inspiring stop along the scenic highway 61. Visit the century old lighthouse perched on top of cliff and learn more of its history at the visitor center. There are many nature hikes with panoramic views of Lake Superior.
Palisade Head
Take a short walk from the parking area to the spectacular views at this massive rock formation. Palisade Head is a go-to spot for artists and sightseers alike. Limited parking available and no guardrails at cliff edge viewing area.
Tettegouche State Park
Located 58 miles north of Duluth, Tettegouche features four waterfalls along Baptism River. Come prepared for hours of hiking alongside Baptism River and surrounding pristine wilderness.
Temperance River
The Temperance River is a very unique in comparison to other Minnesota rivers. The river rapidly flows through narrow channels within a rocky gorge. State park trails follow along the river rock cliffs for a breath-taking hike.
